Retention

The audience you own is the one AI cannot take.

Every other channel rents you access to your customer. Email and SMS are the two you own outright, which is exactly why they are worth the AI investment that used to be reserved for acquisition.

The AI in modern lifecycle platforms is past the demo stage in a few specific places, and still marketing copy in others. It is worth knowing which is which before you build a program on it.

Generally available and worth using: predicted customer lifetime value, churn risk scoring, expected date of next order, personalized send time at the individual subscriber level, and AI segmentation built on predictive and behavioral data rather than demographics. Klaviyo’s own State of Email reporting put revenue per recipient from AI-driven segments 18% to 45% ahead of traditional demographic segmentation.

Emerging, and worth piloting rather than depending on: the autonomous agents. Klaviyo’s Customer Agent, which resolves a reported 65% of customer questions without a human, is live. Its campaign-building Composer agent has been in restricted release. We will build you a program that uses what is shipped and leaves room for what is coming, rather than one that assumes the roadmap.

Deliverables

What we build

A build phase that leaves you with a working program, then a retainer only if you want one.

  • Data and event audit. What your store, CRM and site send today, and what the platform needs in order to predict anything useful.
  • Lifecycle map. Every stage from first visit to win-back, with the trigger, the audience and the goal of each message written down.
  • Core flows. Welcome, browse and cart abandonment, post-purchase, replenishment, win-back, review and referral requests, plus the B2B equivalents where that is your model.
  • Predictive segmentation. Segments built on predicted lifetime value, churn risk and expected next order, replacing the catch-all list.
  • Personalized send time. Per-subscriber timing rather than one send hour for the whole list.
  • Templates and design. On brand, accessible, dark-mode safe, and tested across the clients your list opens in.
  • Deliverability. Authentication, warming, list hygiene, engagement-based sunsetting and the sending reputation work most programs skip until it breaks.
  • SMS where it earns its place. Consent, compliance, and a cadence that does not exhaust a list you cannot rebuild.
  • Testing program. A running test plan on subject lines, offers, timing and structure, with results you can read.

Questions

Asked before every engagement.

Which platform should we use?

Klaviyo for ecommerce, in most cases, because its predictive layer is the most mature and its Shopify integration is the deepest. HubSpot where email lives inside a wider sales process. Customer.io or Braze where the product itself generates the events and you need real logic. We will recommend against a migration when your current platform is fine, which it often is.

Does AI segmentation outperform ordinary segments?

The published data says clearly yes. Klaviyo’s State of Email reporting put revenue per recipient from AI-driven segments 18% to 45% ahead of traditional demographic segmentation. The mechanism is not mysterious: predicted lifetime value and churn risk describe intent, where age and location describe a stereotype.

Should we let an AI agent write and send our campaigns?

Not unsupervised, not yet. The customer-service style agents are production-ready and resolve a large share of routine questions. The autonomous campaign builders are newer and, in some cases, still in restricted release. We will pilot them alongside a human-approved program rather than replace one with the other.

Do you write the emails or do we?

Either. Most clients take the build and the flow logic from us and keep copy in-house for voice, and we edit. Where you would rather not, we write and you approve.
